Presbytery Cathedral Of Verona

In the year 2012, at the request of then-Bishop Monsignor Giuseppe Zenti, plans were made to enlarge the new Presbytery that had been built in 1987 to the design of architects Perbellini Cipolla and Valdinoci. The need that had emerged over the years by experiencing the celebrations in the Cathedral was to have more space in the front for priestly ordination ceremonies, more space toward the side chapels for the many concelebrants during solemnities, and to be able to modify the Bishop's chair according to his precise wishes. The new flooring of the extension reproduced materials and finishes like the pre-existing ones, the ambo was advanced following the frontal extension of the chancel, while the area of the chair was also made more accessible toward the Tornacoro. Particular care was taken in making the wooden parts of the cathedra with the carved bishop's coat of arms and the side chairs for the concelebrants, all made of solid walnut wood.
