Verona Cathedral Lighting

In the year 1999, the lighting system of Verona Cathedral was completely rebuilt, also revising the electrical system and the main switchboards, which by then did not meet the standards. The lighting fixtures mainly on the capitals of the large columns of the nave were metal halide, except for the small pointing projectors that were halogen. In the year 2014, it was decided to revise the lighting design, which included replacing the projectors, with LED projectors, in order to achieve significant energy savings and improve the lighting control of the various surfaces and works of art present. A DALI control system was used to the existing home automation system, which allows timely control of each new LED floodlight. At the same time, the security lighting, which used the period chandeliers located under the arches between the nave and side aisles, was adapted by replacing the incandescent lamps with equally shaped warm-light LEDs and the two rescuer units with their associated line control panels, in accordance with current safety regulations. The existing electrical system, distribution boards and connecting cables, including mineral-insulated cables in the terminal section from the attic to the aisles, remained unchanged. In addition, the smoke detection system, intrusion detection system with control cameras and audio system were revised.
