FORMER Church of San Giacomo alla Pigna

This ancient building complex, in the vicinity of Verona Cathedral, contains within it the former church of San Giacomo alla Pigna. The full restoration project approved by the Verona Superintendence of Architectural Heritage required extensive historical research. The first confirmations of the church date back to 1177 documented by "privilege of Frederick I Emperor, called Barbarossa." The project envisioned the integral recovery of the buildings, using it as a Diocesan School of Sacred Music. The guiding criterion of the intervention project on the building was to recover with conservative methods the parts of historical and decorative interest that were surveyed with specific essays in agreement with the Superintendence. The interior spaces are transformed in order to meet the needs of the School of Music, without altering the original external conformation of the entire architectural complex. The project has participated in a number of public funding calls, also receiving grants.
