Via Verdi House and B&B
The intervention involved a 1960s villa, which through careful planning, allowed for the construction of two new housing units, with associated outdoor garden living appurtenances and a Bed & Breakfast, (Via Verdi B&B), equipped with three rooms with private bathrooms and a common breakfast room.
The project addressed in an integrated way the rehabilitation of existing buildings, thus limiting land consumption, a functional extension to new housing needs and important energy improvement, bringing the building to class A4. The distribution of interior spaces followed the criteria of bioclimatics, thus: careful design of solar input differentially between summer and winter, internal cooling ventilation with chimney effect, excellent thermal inertia of the envelope. The realization included photovoltaic panels with storage batteries, careful insulation with external coat and on the roof, low-temperature floor and wall heating, solar thermal panels for both domestic hot water and heating. The materials used are natural with low impact on the environment and free of VOC emissions. In fact, the extension was built with wooden walls and the outer coat is made of wood and cork. The window and door frames are made of wood and cork to combine eco-compatibility of materials with efficiency in energy insulation. The interior finishes have been chosen with materials that respect the healthiness of the air, with a wood floor oiled in place, products free of chemical solvents, as well as the furniture and wall paints are finished with natural products. There is also a rainwater recovery system, used for outdoor irrigation and toilet cisterns.
The intervention, which was declared by the Veneto Region to have been carried out according to the criteria of sustainable building, according to Regional Law 4/2007 and The Itaca Protocol.
